What is in each book?

Each day follows a liturgy, or order of worship, which includes written prayers and wisdom from Christian writers across the centuries (revised and updated), readings from the Old & New Testament and the Psalms (CSB translation), and ancient guided prayer practices in the evening.

Do I need to start with a particular book?

Not at all! Start with whichever season feels closest to you now. We believe you’ll find much to value and relate to in each book, wherever you start.

What if I miss a day?

The point is pursuit, not perfection. God is always with us and it is never too late to start again. (Yes, we’re talking about more than just the books here…)

Are these written for a particular tradition?

While the project’s author is rooted in an Anglican / Evangelical background and adheres firmly to the Nicene Creed, The Quiet Hours is for anyone who wants to know the God of the Bible better.

Where do the prayers come from?

Each book contains hundreds of prayers, some from the project’s author, and many more from Christians across centuries and continents — like St. Ambrose of Milan, St. Augustine of Hippo, W.E.B. Du Bois, Søren Kierkegaard, George MacDonald, and even Jane Austen — all updated and revised for modern readers.

Was generative AI used to write any of these books?

Absolutely not. Prayer is far too important and personal to ever outsource. We were made in the image of God, and human thought is a holy and precious thing.

AI tools were used, however, for help in organizing research and additional proofreading. We recognize the environmental and societal cost, and hope our careful use did more good than harm.

Can I try out The Quiet Hours before I buy it?

Absolutely! Download First Light, our free three-day sampler.

When will my order ship?

Preorders are expected to ship on or before November 1, 2026.

Are The Quiet Hours available for group or bulk purchase? Is there a discount?

Yes! Conferences, churches, and groups get lower prices on 10 or more books, in any combination of the three: 10–49 books are $19 each, 50–99 are $16, 100–249 are $14, and 250 or more are $12. Sets count as three books. The discount is applied automatically in your cart.

For very large orders, or if you’d rather be invoiced, email us at thebutler@givingtons.com with your quantity, shipping address, and organization name, and we’ll take care of the rest.
